Contact your legislators
Equal justice requires action. Ask the people who write our laws to recognize and protect every human from conception, without exceptions.
Legislators make decisions about whose lives the law protects and how justice is enforced. When preborn humans are excluded from protection against intentional killing, the injustice is urgent. Abortion and lethal IVF are not merely topics for political discussion; innocent human lives are at stake.
Our neighbors in the womb cannot call an office or testify for themselves. We can speak on their behalf. Contacting legislators makes the demand for equal justice concrete: it asks a particular official to take a particular action and to answer for their position. A respectful, persistent constituent message can bring an issue before an office, request a meeting, and press for legislation. One message does not guarantee a change, but silence leaves this opportunity unused.
God commands us to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves and to judge righteously (Proverbs 31:8–9). We should urge our legislators to fulfill their duty to protect innocent life impartially, rather than treating human worth as negotiable.
Find your representatives
Use Common Cause’s representative lookup to identify the officials who represent your address.
Find your representatives ↗- Enter your full residential address in the lookup.
- Identify your state legislators and your members of Congress. Contact state legislators about state law and members of Congress about federal law.
- Go to each legislator’s official government or legislative office website and verify their current contact details.
- Use their official office contact information: the office’s contact form, published office email address, office phone number, or mailing address. Direct legislative requests to their public office rather than a campaign or personal account.
- Identify yourself as a constituent, include the information the official form requests, and ask for a written response or a meeting.
Ask for equal justice, without exceptions
Be clear about the standard: every human deserves equal protection from conception, meaning fertilization. Ask for legislation abolishing abortion and lethal IVF—the intentional destruction of human embryos—and applying impartial justice to culpable participants. Protection should not depend on age, size, disability, wantedness, or circumstances of conception.
Ask them to introduce, sponsor, and support legislation that meets that standard. Ask for their position in writing. Equal justice must include due process and an impartial assessment of intent, coercion, and criminal responsibility; it does not mean assuming every person involved is equally culpable.

Subject: Equal justice for every human from conception
Dear [Title and Last Name],
I am a constituent in [city or county]. I am asking you to recognize the imperative need for equal justice for every human from conception, without exceptions. A human being’s right to protection against intentional killing must not depend on age, size, disability, wantedness, or circumstances of conception.
Please introduce, sponsor, and support legislation that abolishes abortion and the intentional destruction of human embryos through lethal IVF. Our laws should protect preborn humans from fertilization under the same basic standard of justice that protects born humans, with due process and impartial accountability for culpable participants. They should not leave some innocent humans legally killable or categorically exempt a class of culpable perpetrators.
This is an urgent matter of justice, not simply a political preference. Please provide a written response explaining whether you support equal protection from conception without exceptions, what legislation you will pursue, and what specific steps you will take during the next legislative session. I would also welcome a meeting with you or your legislative staff.
Thank you,
[Your name]

Follow-up requesting a clear answer
Dear [Title and Last Name],
I am following up on my message of [date]. I asked whether you will support equal justice for every human from conception, without exceptions. A general statement that you value life does not answer the legislative question.
Will you introduce, sponsor, or vote for legislation protecting all preborn humans from intentional killing, including abortion and lethal IVF, under an impartial standard of justice? Please identify the specific action you are prepared to take and your expected timeline. I would appreciate a written answer or an opportunity to meet with your office.
Thank you,
[Your name and constituent contact information]
Keep the conversation going
Keep a record of when you contacted each office and what they said. Follow up respectfully if you receive no answer or only a general statement. Request a meeting, ask about specific bills when they are introduced, and encourage fellow constituents to make their own clear requests for equal justice.
